Our recovery approachWhere Johns Creek firms run into trouble
Most of the businesses that call us are well run. Their IT just never got the same attention as the rest of the business.
The practice manager is also the IT department
She resets passwords, calls the software vendor and reboots the router between patients. When she is out, nobody knows where the admin logins are.
Half the team works from home
Staff sign in from personal PCs and old home routers. Nobody can say which devices hold client files or whether they're encrypted.
An insurance form you can't answer
Your cyber policy renewal asks about MFA, endpoint detection and immutable backups. You aren't sure, and guessing wrong could cost you a claim.
A provider who only shows up on invoices
Tickets wait days, the same problems come back and nobody has explained what you're paying for in plain language.
Lots of small firms, lots of patients, lots of home offices
Figures from the U.S. Census Bureau. Business counts cover ZIP codes 30022 and 30097, which take in most of Johns Creek and a little beyond it.
What Johns Creek's business mix means for your technology
Johns Creek only became a city in December 2006, but its business district is older than that. In 1981 a group of Georgia Tech graduates bought farmland near McGinnis Ferry and Medlock Bridge roads and planned Technology Park. Today the park covers roughly 1,900 acres of offices, labs and medical buildings, with Emory Johns Creek Hospital on its edge. Around it are quiet subdivisions full of people who run a firm, see patients or manage a portfolio, and plenty of them do part of that work from a spare bedroom.
Who does business here
The Census Bureau counts 4,986 employer establishments in 30022 and 30097, the two ZIP codes that cover most of the city. Both reach a little past the city line, so treat the figures as a close picture, not an exact census of Johns Creek. About two in three of those businesses have fewer than five employees. Around 1,045 have between 10 and 249. That middle group is where a shared password sheet and a store-bought router stop being enough.
Health care leads. Those two ZIP codes hold 448 medical, dental and outpatient practices, including 139 physician offices and 112 dental offices. Many sit in the medical buildings along Hospital Parkway and the Medlock Bridge corridor. Real estate offices (336) and management and consulting firms (326) come next. Then there is a deep bench of money businesses: 230 banks, lenders, investment and wealth firms, and 154 insurance agencies. Add 110 accounting firms, 96 law offices and about 105 architecture and engineering practices. Nearly all of them handle confidential files or regulated data.
What that mix means for your systems
A pediatric office off State Bridge Road and a wealth adviser in a Medlock Bridge office park run different software. Their worries overlap, though. Each holds data that brings legal duties if it leaks. Each lives in Microsoft 365 email, which is where fake invoices and wire requests arrive. Each usually has 5 to 60 people, no full-time IT staff and a pile of vendor contracts that grew one at a time. The cure follows the same outline for both: know what you own, lock down accounts, back up what matters and have someone watching every day.
A city that works from home
The Census Bureau's 2020 to 2024 survey puts Johns Creek's median household income at $160,093, about twice Georgia's. Around 73 percent of adults hold a bachelor's degree. And 37.8 percent of working residents usually work from home, compared with 15.9 percent statewide. For a business, that means the network is no longer just the office. It is dozens of home routers, family PCs on the same Wi-Fi and laptops that rarely come in. We manage those laptops wherever they are. We also look after owners who run a practice or consultancy from a home office and want the same protection a bigger firm has.
Change on the map
The city is reshaping its center. Medley, a mixed-use district at Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road, is the first phase of a planned town center, and it adds new office space close to Technology Park. Every office move is a chance to replace tired network gear or retire the old server, but only if it's planned early. We'd rather see the floor plan before the lease is signed than the week the movers show up.
Weather and the river
The Chattahoochee River runs along the city's southern and eastern edge. Fulton County was part of federal declarations for the September 2009 floods, the 2014 ice storm, Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Helene in 2024. Few Johns Creek offices flood. But a day without power or internet still stops work if everything lives in one building. Cloud services, a second internet line and battery backup on network gear keep that day short.
Johns Creek and the north Fulton line
Our office is in Alpharetta, just west of Johns Creek. Engineers reach Technology Park, the medical buildings near Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the Medlock Bridge corridor by Old Milton Parkway and State Bridge Road. McGinnis Ferry Road takes us along the north side toward Medley, Suwanee and Cumming, and Abbotts Bridge Road crosses the Chattahoochee to Duluth. Most issues are fixed remotely. Site visits are booked when hands are needed, including at home offices.

How Johns Creek businesses usually handle IT
Each of these can work for a while. The differences show up when something serious goes wrong.
| Hourly IT help | One in-house IT person | Sentry Cloud IT | |
|---|---|---|---|
| When they're out | You wait | Nobody covers | A team that shares your documentation |
| Home office devices | Rarely touched | Best effort | Managed and patched like office PCs |
| Security alerts | Not watched | Watched during work hours | Reviewed by people, with action taken |
| Backups | Set up once | Checked when there's time | Checked daily, restores tested on a schedule |
| Compliance evidence | None | Depends on the person | Settings, logs and test results written down |
| Cost | Unpredictable hourly bills | Salary, benefits and tools | Fixed monthly price after a review |
Questions Johns Creek owners ask first
Are you located in Johns Creek?
No. We are based in Alpharetta, the city just west. Our engineers drive over when work needs to be done in person, and the majority of requests are fixed remotely.
Do you work with medical and dental practices?
Yes, it is a large part of our Johns Creek work. We handle the technical side of HIPAA security and coordinate with your EHR, imaging and phone vendors. Policies and staff rules stay with the practice.
Can you support staff who work from home?
Yes. We manage company laptops wherever they are, enforce encryption and sign-in rules, and can help secure an owner's or executive's home network.
How is pricing worked out?
Once we have seen your setup, you get one flat monthly figure tied to headcount, devices and chosen services. Everyday help is covered. Bigger projects are priced separately before they start.
See where your IT really stands
Our review explains, without jargon, how protected you are, whether your backups would hold up and how well support is working. Plan on roughly sixty minutes with us. You keep the findings either way.
